Gillian of Crafting a Rainbow has been running this year-end activity for a few years now. I've participated a couple of times but almost missed this year's round. Where does the time go?
Anyhow, I thought I'd jump in with a round up post of my hits and misses of the year. I made a few things I loved and a few I didn't, but learned a lot either way.
HITS
I loved this flannel floral print, and it was perfect for this great pattern. I love the simple lines and interesting collar - plus the silver lining! - and the fit is great. I've worn it a bunch and want to make another.
I finally used a lovely cotton print for this classic pattern as part of one of the Literary Sewing Circle rounds, and I *love* it. I was able to get the fit down pretty well with this one and I love wearing it.
I was gifted this pattern as a NeedleSharp kit, and so made it up right away. While I'm not sure I'd have picked this one on my own, as it turns out I adore this dress and wear it a lot. Great pockets! And a nice silhouette.
A late in the year Fabricville project, this was the perfect melding of fabric, print and pattern. I really enjoy the shape of this dress, and the jersey is such nice quality that it's a joy to wear.
And a non-dress in my lineup, I love this sweater knit vest mostly because I had a sudden craving for a 70s style vest and this fabric and pattern popped up shortly after I'd thought of it. And it is exactly what I wanted. I always feel good in this.
MISSES
This "mullet" dress was fun to make and I really love the floaty rayons it's made from. But the fit, especially around the bust/shoulder is slightly off, and the style is just not one I feel very much like myself in. So it has only been worn twice.
This top is a good idea but as made it is much more form fitting than is my preference, and has some wrinkles where the collar is sewn in. I haven't worn it. Even as a wearable muslin, it isn't very wearable.
I wouldn't say that I had many other big misses this year -- I didn't take on many outlier projects with designs or fabrics that I wasn't familiar with so that might have been why. I had many more hits, with nearly everything I've made getting a fair amount of wear. A good year of sewing!

And a few Highlights of the year as well...
1. Definitely having PatternReview Weekend here in Stratford at the beginning of June! It was an exhausting, exciting and exhilarating weekend getting to meet new sewists from across Ontario and beyond -- and see sewists I'd first met at PR Weekend in Chicago. It was a super event
2. I had a wall quilt exhibited as part of a new Community Art project at work that I'm coordinating - fun!
3. I also had a small art quilt in a local show - my first exhibition of my textile art - and it sold!
4. My sister visited me in the summer! And I got to take her on a tour of the Stratford Festival Costume Warehouse - we had fun ;)
